Lost Theory - Little Ben

Wow, what an ending eh? Let’s be honest, most of us saw it coming. It was watching it go down that was actually the fun part. But let’s take a deeper look. Things may not exactly be what they seem…

So I’ll go out on the record and say that Little Ben isn’t dead. This is a pretty divided subject in the Lost world right now. Ask a group of 10 Lost fans, and five will say he’s dead, while the other five will say there’s no way. Count me as a member of the second group of five. I’m going to do my best to explain to you why I think Little Ben isn’t dead.

First off, let’s start with the fact that we never actually saw him die. And on Lost, nothing is official until it’s announced on the show. People have survived gunshots in the past. Most notably…John Locke. Actually, he’s survived at least two that I can remember right off the top of my head. One of which was a point blank shot to the midsection. People survive things on this island that they probably wouldn’t survive elsewhere.

At this point in time, the island still needs Ben. Remember the issue from season four? The island wouldn’t let Michael kill himself, it wouldn’t let Jack kill himself. The island won’t let you die if it still has use for you. Perhaps John Locke is really as important as everyone thinks. And in turn, if the island needs Locke, it also needs Ben to help turn Locke into the person he’ll become. A lot of Locke’s decisions and actions for the past two seasons have been as a result of direct manipulation from Ben. Therefore, in order for Locke to become who the island needs him to be, the island needs Ben to stay alive.

Another thing we can’t forget, is the fact that “Whatever happened, happened.” Ben was here before. He’s always gotten shot. Just because we’ve never seen it, doesn’t mean it’s never happened. Ben has always known about Sayid, Jack, Sawyer, Juliet, Kate, Hurley, Jin, Miles, Faraday, etc. How do you think he has so much info on these people? Remember the list from season two? Funny how all the names on that list are people Ben knew as a kid. Sawyer was always the head of Dharma security, Hurley always worked in the cafeteria, and Ben was always supposed to get shot by Sayid.

I think what we saw last night was just one step in turning Ben from innocent to “evil.” I mentioned this yesterday, and I still have the same idea. Ben is miserable in his Dharma life. He hates everyone and just about everything. But then…along comes Sayid. He’s able to trust Sayid, and wants to help him. This is despite the fact that doing so gets him trouble with dad. Ben goes way out on a limb for this guy, because he thinks it’s the sign he’s been waiting for. And once he busts that guy out…he gets shot down. I don’t know about you, but that’d cause me to become a little pissed off.

Now that we’ve seen this first step being taken, how’s it all going to add up to what we’ve seen of Ben so far? Here’s how I think it’ll all go down:

Little Ben will be left on the road. Lucky for him though, he’s actually on the road. Jin will wake up and see the boy face down in the dirt. He’ll pick him up, throw him in a van, and rush back to Dharmaton. At the Dharma hospital, they’ll bring in all the doctors and such to fix him up. They’ll need some extra help, and so Sawyer will ask Jack. Jack will refuse, because…well…why the heck would he want to save the life of the person who’s going to be such a pain in the ass later? After Jack refuses, Sawyer will turn to the next doctor he knows: Juliet.

Juliet’s a fertility doctor, so she won’t be too much help. But after some crazy island stuff, Ben will come out just fine. And who is he going to thank? Juliet. This will cause Ben to develop a little crush on Juliet (but seriously, who doesn’t have a crush on her, I mean come on.) Maybe Juliet will accept this in an attempt to try to steer Ben in a different direction. Once this happens, she’ll become somewhat of a mother figure for Ben. Maybe after she leaves the island for whatever reason, Ben has a painting made in her memory. A painting of her in a wicker chair…

Once Ben grows up, he’ll set out on a mission to bring her back. People will see the painting, and some will even remark: “You look just like her.” Why does she look just like her? Because she is her. The her that Harper Stanhope refers to is actually Juliet herself.

So that’s just where I think this whole thing is going.

Lost - Flashing Forward to "He's Our You"

Warning to spoilerphobes: This article will contain spoilers, and information from the recently released sneak peaks. You’ve been warned, so don’t throw a hissy.

Last week’s episode “Namaste” was chock full of…well…filler. There’s no doubt that it was a set up episode for all the big things to come. The most exciting part of last week? The preview for this week. I’m in no way bashing “Namaste,” it was a great episode that stayed on par with the so far amazing season five. I just have this feeling that when we look back on it and comparing it to the rest of the season, we’ll see it more as a filler/character episode than anything else.

But back to that preview! Did you see it?! Explosions, gunshots, and Sayid is gonna go BAMF on some one pretty soon! Let’s flash forward and take a look at some things I want to see in “He’s Our You:”
Sayid gets a taste of his own medicine…

Sayid has been riding the bad luck train for quite some time now. I’d call it karma. This is what happens when you torture people. You end up crashing on an island, have two girls you love killed, and then traveling back in time to that same island, only to have people think you’re an enemy. From the looks of the sneak peak, the bad karma isn’t over for Sayid. Looks like we’re in for our first dose of torture in a while. And let me tell you, just judging from his looks…that guy who’s going to do all those things Sayid used to do…that guy is messed up. You can just tell. He’s been doing this a damn long time, and it probably doesn’t even effect him anymore. And it may just be me, but I’m pretty sure I saw a look on his face when Sayid was resisting. A look that said: “Now this is gonna be fuuuuun.”
…and then turns into the BAMF he was back in season one!

The sneak peaks usually come pretty early in the episode. So what happens after Sayid gets his daily torture medicine? He goes nuts. I’m not talking crazy, I’m talking bad ass nuts. All those explosions in the promo? I’d put money on saying they’re because of Sayid. You want to know what else I think will be Sayid’s fault? There’s a feeling in my gut that just tells me Sayid will be the reason we see Harry Potter turn into Voldemort. We already know Little Ben has been in contact with Richard. He told Sayid that he could help him. My prediction? Little Ben is going to help Sayid. And once he’s done, Sayid will return the favor by trying to kill him. This will result in Little Ben’s view on life changing forever. How can he trust anyone if the one person he helped tried to kill him? He can’t. From now one, he’ll be looking out for Ben, and Ben only.
More Big Ben!

Speaking of Ben, let’s get more of his grown up self. How long are we going to have to wait for that Locke/Ben confrontation? Just give me…five minutes. One scene and I’ll be happy. Let’s just see Locke kick his ass, and then Ben come back with some smart ass remark. Those are the moments this show is made of!
More Jack/Sawyer showdowns.

Ok, I’ll admit it. As a Jack fan, that scene in “Namaste” hurt a little bit. But Sawyer was right, Jack’s made a lot of bad decisions in his time as leader. But, sorry Sawyer fans…Jack’s coming back. And right now, I believe the overall score is in favor of Jack. One verbal smackdown in Sawyer’s favor didn’t do much to change that.
Kate finally dies!

I couldn’t believe they’d release a sneak peak that showed Kate actually dying! …ok, I made that up. But how awesome would it be to just see her finally go? I cannot wait for the moment where Kate finds out about Sawyer and Juliet. She’ll be put into her place faster than she’d hop into bed with any guy who makes her feel good about herself. I can see the scene in my head already. Juliet and Kate standing there. Juliet coming right out with it…”Listen you little tramp, if you think you can come back here after three years and hope James has moved on, you’re wrong. And if you even try to screw up everything we’ve got going here, I’ll ****ing slit your throat.” It may not happen exactly like that…but it should.

Tonight’s episode is going to be awesome. That’s all there is to it. It’ll obviously be very Sayid centric. And it looks like we’re going back to our old flashback style of doing things. So what are you looking forward to tonight?

Lost Theory - Inverted Parentage (Spoiler Warning)

First things first, this post is taking information from the recently released sneak peaks for episode 5.03. If you've avoided the sneak peaks, you should avoid this post as well. Also, I know this theory may be full of holes and guess work, but half the fun is guessing and thinking about these things that could possibly happen.

Now, onto more important things...If you've seen the sneak peak from yesterday, you've already been made aware of the fact that the Desmond/Penny love child will make it's debut in tomorrow's episode. It had been rumored for quite some time, and now we'll finally see it for ourselves. Now, if you're anything like me, I'm sure you're fully ready to have the name of the child hidden from you for a couple episodes. Think of it as the same thing as the name of Faraday's mother in Oxford. I just have this gut feeling that something crazy is going to go down with this kid. This calls for you to be a little open minded. I'm just pulling this way out of left field here. In season three, Desmond formed quite a touching bond with one of our 815ers. We all know this special some one as Charlie Pace. Over the course of the season, they developed quite the brotherly bond. Sadly this was ended with Charlie's tragic death in the Looking Glass station. However, right before he died, Charlie was able to have an impact on another. He managed to establish a connection with Penny, being the first to tell her that her long-lost love was still alive. With both of these connections, would it really be too off the wall for Penny and Desmond to name their child...Charlie?

Ok get ready for this...Penny and Desmond's child is named after Charlie Pace. Or so we think. It's possible that they weren't married when the child was born, they could've given him his mother's name. Making him...Charlie Widmore... The rest of this theory is a little cloudy, as I'm not a psychic, and I've never been able to accurately guess every detail of every season. Picture it going down something like this: When Ben says that everyone has to go back, it's never really specified whether or not this includes Desmond or just the O6. For the sake of this theory, we're going to assume he does include Desmond, after all, he does say everyone. In order to save his friends, Desmond is finally convinced to return to the island. Perhaps Ms. Hawking pulls the whole course correction thing on him again, and warns him of something he's going to have to do in the future. Here's the catch. This time, he's allowed to bring Penny and little Charlie with him. Now we're assuming they're all going to make it back to the island safely. The time jumps stop, and everyone is living happily ever after. But then it all starts happening again. The island is threatened, and has to be moved once again. Perhaps this will be what Ms. Hawking tells Desmond he'll have to do. However, Desmond is misled. He moves the island, but is never told about the "Whoever moves the island can never come back rule."

Because of this, he vanishes from the island, leaving Penny and little Charlie all alone. The island moves back in time. This time, everyone was aware about the fact that no one else can leave, or else we'll start the skipping record again. So this time, once the island moves back, it stays in one spot in time. Time passes on the island, little Charlie gets older, and he doesn't want to be called Charlie anymore. It's a kid's name, he says. So he starts going by the name of Charles. A little more sophisticated and respectable. During the time he's growing up, he's led to believe that his father, Desmond Hume, is a coward who abandoned his lover (for the second time) and his son. This theory is also taking into consideration the fact that throughout his life, no one ever tells little Charles that Desmond didn't actually abandon them, but rather he was saving them. Now Charles, as he likes to be called, is growing up.

He's living on the island and learning all it's secrets. Things are going well, until he's forced to leave. Now he has to live life off island. In the mean time, he's trying to work behind the scenes, manipulating people to get back. He has a daughter...and her name is Penny! What?! Yeah, you saw that coming. Little Charlie, grew up to be evil Charles Widmore. He is the father of his own mother. The reason he hates Desmond is because he knows someday Desmond will abandon his lover and child. He hates Desmond for this, but knows deep down that he can't stop the universe from course-correcting itself. Or maybe he knows that in order for him to be born, he needs to antagonize Desmond and he has to try and keep him away from Penny. That's the universe's plan. Charles Widmore is destined to be his own grandfather.
